Robert D. Clark passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, December 26, 2026, at the age of 91. Throughout his long and eventful life, Robert touched the hearts of many by sharing stories about his diverse experiences with anyone willing to listen.

He was born on December 16, 1934, in Coulee Dam, Washington, Robert was the son of Vilas Clark and Georgia Ridenhour. He attended Mount Baker Schools and graduated from Mount Baker High School as part of the class of 1952. After high school, Robert pursued further education at DeVry Institute of Technology in Chicago. Shortly after completing his studies, he was drafted into the United States Army.

In 1957, Robert married Jean Chase. During his service in the Army, the couple was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas, where they began their family. After serving in Texas, Robert and Jean returned to Washington and settled in Preston, a small community where they continued to grow their family and build cherished friendships and memories over the course of 44 years.

After retiring, Robert moved back to the Clark family farm on Goshen Road. He remained active in the community by attending and following high school sports events throughout Whatcom County, a pastime he was deeply passionate about.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of 65 years, Jean, his son-in-law Brian Cain, and his two younger brothers, Raymond Clark and Ronald Ridenhour. He leaves behind a lasting legacy, survived by his five children: Robert G. Clark (Colleen), Stephanie Robinson (Bill), Todd Clark (Maureen), Scott Clark (Karen), and Stacy Cain. He is also remembered by his nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, with two new additions to the family in 2026.

A celebration of Robert’s life will be held in late March 2026. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring his memory and legacy. More details will be shared at a later date.
