Robert Clay

Mr. Clay was a true Southern gentleman. He helped me with my genealogy research many times over the years that I knew him. He never belittled any wrong turns I made, but gently steered me in the right direction. In addition to "picking his brain", I enjoyed viewing his wonderful paintings. I know he was proud of his art work and rightly so. He also had a wonderful sense of humor. I miss his presence every time I go to the Library of Virginia.
