Robert Thomas Coates, age 89, of Secane, PA passed away on December 6, 2025 after a short illness.
Robert was the son of the late William and Margaret Coates, was born in Philadelphia and was a graduate of West Catholic High School. He also proudly served in the US Army. Robert worked as a Field Manager in Nuclear Engineering for Stone & Webster until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time at the beach, traveling with his family and recounting his many experiences.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Catherine Marie (Kulesa) Coates, two children, Susan Ann Coates and Robert Thomas Coates (Maryann), four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by his older brother, William Coates and younger sister, Kathleen (Coates) Scalia.
Relatives and friends are invited to Robert's viewing from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Friday, December 12, 2025 at the Cavanagh Family Funeral Home, 301 Chester Pike, Norwood. A Prayer Service will immediately follow at 11:00 am. Interment is Private.

my deepest sympathy to the entire family, he was a great neighbor and will be missed!! i wish i had more words of comfort in time it will be easier. and all the good times will come flooding back.
