Robert Colavecchio Obituary

Robert Michael Colavecchio, 58, of Cromwell, CT - Beloved husband. Devoted

father. Treasured son, uncle, and brother, unexpectedly left this world on August 1, 2023. Born in Hartford, CT, he graduated from South Catholic High School ('82), then Johnson and Wales ('84), to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a chef. Soon dubbed as "the Rock and Roll chef", Rob was a wizard in the kitchen. During his 39 year culinary career, his 'magic hands' crafted beautiful meals for celebrities including Richie Sambora, Cher, and his "Mary Tyler Moore show" crush, Valerie Harper. Yet his most important creations were for his family, where he poured every ounce of love, skill, and purpose. He was a savant behind the stovetop; a legendary musician (at least behind the shower curtain and steering wheel); Stew Leonard's Superstar of the Month; admired Hot Tomatoes and Restaurant Bricco chef. Most importantly, a mighty man of faith, who allowed his love and trust in God to shine into every aspect of his life.

Those who knew him appreciated his not-so hidden gift for music. From high school choir, to serenading his peers behind the saute station, to leading worship at church. So talented he was even supposed to play Danny Zucko in the musical Grease (inside joke-- if you don't know, ask us-- It's SO ROB)! He remained

committed to the little things that were important to him; ironing his chef pants weekly to remain 'chef-ready', and wearing driving gloves to simulate his desire to race Formula 1. His laugh radiated in a loud theater, and his personality was one-in-a-million. He made an impact on every person that he knew.

Rob was predeceased by his father Philip, and leaves behind his adored mother Lillian; brother Steven and sister in-law Mickey; sister Nancy and nephew Cole; as well as mother in-law Dolores, brother in-law Bryan, sister in-law Jody, and nephew Travis. He will be forever missed by his beloved wife of almost 27 years Pam, and their cherished children Alex and Maxwell. Secondary only to God, they were all that he lived for, and will passionately carry on his legacy of love, laughter and purpose.

Calling hours will be Monday, August 14th, 4-7pm at Cromwell Funeral Home, 506 Main Street Cromwell. A Celebration of Life will be organized in the coming months.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Rob's honor can be made to Streetfire Ministries Inc. Kindly make checks payable to Streetfire Ministries Inc., mailed to, 34-3

Shunpike Rd. #213 Cromwell, CT 06416 in c/o Wallace Collins.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Rob was an amazing person, so talented and personable. He sang at my mother's funeral service and it was such a blessing... Can you say anointed? He was a wonderful friend to her and my husband Ronnie as well. Prayers for strength and peace. Love always, Leah Pickard

My deepest sympathies to all the Colavecchio family. I knew Rob well as we worked together several years at KinderCare. We had many conversations ranging from the depths of religion to our disagreements on 80´s music! Even when we sassed each other he was always positive and I don´t think I´ve ever seen him have a bad day. I always knew when he was having a particularly good day when he would belt out his rendition of "I think I love you" in his best David Cassidy voice throughout our hallways! He always had a smile, a joke, a positive message and even a quiet moment for anyone in need. If you knew Rob you were blessed. He will be missed.

I had the privilege of knowing Rob as a parent at my daycare and then a co-worker. Rob and I laughed endlessly every day at work and had the same sense of humor. There are too many memories to share but he is definitely watching over us (and laughing at me). Forever in our hearts Mr. Rob, one if a kind for sure.

Pam,
We met @ Anthony´s house-Marilyn-
I´m so very sorry and in disbelief especially after just sitting and talking 2 days before that @ Anthony´s house.
Rob was a great guy. Always had a big smile when we worked together @ D & D. I use to notice how neat he was.
There are no words. He was way too young. I´m sure you and kids are devastated.
I will keep you all in my prayers Love, Marilyn & Dave

Pam, Alex and Max along with all family and friends. My condolences for this loss. I may not have been a close friend however for the brief time I knew him and time I was able to share with him it was evident he was a great man true and dear to family. We shared an admiration for F1 along with similar loves of music and food. It was an honor and privilege to be called a friend and will always have a spot in my heart for him. Thoughts and prayers again to you and family.

My memories of Rob, (my friend Nancy's little brother) are such happy, fun times. Rob was such a a beautiful, caring soul. He had such positive energy and was ridiculously FUNNY! Although I know he is with his Dad and God. I wish he could have spent more time with his amazing, caring wife and children. Praying and sending love to Pam, Alex, Max, Lilian and Nancy. God bless.

I'm so very sad to hear of Rob's passing. He was always so kind to me the many years we worked together at KinderCare. We got along so well. I enjoyed our chats; and laughing together about food, music, work, the classroom kids, whatever! I especially enjoyed making his children a special Christmas fudge every year as he said they loved it. It became our tradition. To Pam, Alex, and Maxwell, you have my deepest condolences. Keeping you all in my heart. Karen Gavigan
