Robert G. Colton, 82, of Atlantic Highlands, NJ, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2025. A proud U.S. Army veteran, Robert served during the Cold War in Germany, contributing to the defense and security of our nation during a pivotal time in history. After his military service, he dedicated many years to his career at Petro Oil Company.
Robert was known for his love of shooting pool, often enjoying the game with his friends at the American Legion. He cherished the camaraderie and community he found there. He was also known for a famed wall in his bedroom, filled with pictures and memorabilia, reflecting his rich life and the many people and experiences he treasured.
Robert was predeceased by his parents, but his legacy lives on through his beloved wife, Kathy Colton, and his family: his sons, Robert Colton (Sheryl), John Colton (Jamie), and William Colton; his daughters, Anna Colton, Tracy Valanzola, and Kristi Willem (Nicholas); and Reilly Ferrante, who he considered a daughter. He was the cherished grandfather of Robert, Raymond, Christopher, Alyssa, Ava, Kaylee, Aydin, Masin, Everly, Emree, Colton, and Greyson. Robert also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends who will remember him fondly.
Robert's life was one of dedication to his family, friends, and country. His warm smile, quick wit, and love of pool will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at the American Legion #338 in Leonardo, on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
This will be a casual and light event to celebrate Robert's life.
