With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Robert Thomas ''Tommy'' Conrad, 18, of Greenville, Texas. Tommy was called to Jesus and all the saints on November 2, 2024, All Souls' Day following a six-week battle with leukemia. Born on March 8, 2006, in Dallas, Texas, to Robert and Lydia Shipley Conrad, Tommy grew up surrounded by family, friends, and a community that adored him. He was a beloved son, a devoted brother, and a loyal friend to many. Tommy's spirit was infectious; he had an incredible ability to bring joy and laughter to those around him. He will be remembered, not only for his unwavering strength in the face of adversity, but also for his generous heart and the love he shared with family and friends. He was a 2024 graduate of PTAA School in Greenville and was pursuing studies at Texas A&M Commerce.
A young man of faith and service, Tommy was a devoted member of St. William Catholic Church, serving as an altar server for 10 years and an active member of the Knights of Columbus. His kindness and generosity touched everyone he met. He was always willing to lend a hand and was deeply loved by his church family. Tommy had a strong sense of civic duty and a fearless desire to make the world a better place for everyone, even the most invisible. In high school, Tommy was active in the parish for organizing and encouraging pro-life activities. He was the founder and president of the Students for Life Greenville at PTAA. From praying on the streets to raising money with bake sales that he himself manned in the parish cafeteria, Tommy inspired us all to get involved. Tommy worked at Harbor Freight, where colleagues cherished his dedication and warm smile.
Tommy's final wish to cast his vote was honored, reflecting his deep sense of patriotism and determination to improve his community and world. His family, friends, and community will forever remember him as a gentle soul with a big heart and a young man who lived life with purpose and compassion. Tommy is survived by his loving parents, Lydia and Robert; his siblings, William, Micah, Sydney, Jason, David, Emily, Amelia and Brandon; his cherished grandparents, Candy and Robert Conrad, and Vivian and Bill Shipley; and his many friends who will carry his memory in their hearts forever. Tommy's legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched. In the quiet moments that follow, we grapple with the void left by Tommy Conrad's departure. His laughter, once a vibrant melody in our lives, now echoes softly in our hearts, reminding us of a friendship that was a true gift. As we celebrate the beautiful soul he was, we hold tightly to our cherished memories of the unwavering support he offered in our darkest days. Though he may be gone, Tommy's spirit will forever illuminate our paths, reminding us to cherish each moment. Rest in peace, Tommy; you will always be loved and missed beyond measure
A Rosary will be recited at 12:30 PM on Monday, November 11, 2024, at St. William Catholic Church, followed by a funeral mass at 1:00 PM. After the service, Tommy will be laid to rest at Wieland Cemetery. A reception will be held following the interment at the Knights of Columbus Hall, where family and friends are invited to gather in his memory. The Knights of Columbus will serve as pallbearers, a tribute to Tommy's strong faith and dedication to serving others. Tommy's legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched. In the grief that follows we struggle with the void left by Tommy's departure from this earth. While we miss his physical presence here with us, we know we will see him again one day. Till then, we love you and miss you, Tommy.
