SCHODACK - Robert "Bob" P. Conroy, 76, of Schodack, N.Y., passed away peacefully on Monday, October 20, 2025.
Born on March 8, 1949, in Albany, N.Y., Bob was the son of the late Jeannette Frederick and Robert F. Conroy. After proudly serving his country as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, Bob went on to earn an Associate's Degree from Hudson Valley Community College.
Bob built a long and dedicated career with the Canadian Pacific D&H Railroad, retiring after 30 years of service. A man of many talents, Bob built the home he shared with his beloved wife, Mary Ann, with his own hands. Together, they celebrated 42 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures.
Bob was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in nature and simple pleasures. He was a lifelong Harley-Davidson enthusiast, a talented guitarist, and a gifted photographer. After retirement, he earned his Civil Air Patrol pilots license, reflecting his continued curiosity and love of learning. He was also a Seido Karate black belt, demonstrating his discipline and dedication in all that he pursued. Known for his sweet tooth, Bob never passed up a good piece of chocolate, a simple joy that always put a smile on his face.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann Conroy; his children, Christopher (Kelly) Conroy, of West Sand Lake, N.Y., and Daniel (Jennifer) Mahar, of Blaine, Minn.; his grandchildren, Colin, Patrick, and Elaina Mahar; his sisters, Cynthia Conroy Smith, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., and Tina DePaz, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and his brothers, Nicholas J. Conroy (Sabrina), of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Scott A. Conroy, of Jacksonville, Fla. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and aides at the Albany Veterans Hospital for their kindness and compassionate care.
A visitation will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 4 to 6 p.m., at W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Ave., Rensselaer, N.Y. 12144. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 10 a.m., at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3rd Ave. Ext. Rensselaer, N.Y. 12144.
