Cox, Robert A., 93, of Barrington, passed peacefully at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, on December 6th, surrounded by his family.
Robert lived in Rhode Island for the past 50 years. He retired from the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council, where he worked as a personal consultant. He was the son of Robert A. Cox, Sr. and Ella B. Palmer of Philadelphia, PA.
He is widowed by his wife of 40 years, Christine G. Cox. He is survived by his daughter Denise DiPippo and her partner Anthony Campagnone, of Cumberland RI, granddaughter Amanda DiPippo and her husband Richard LaSalle and great-grandson Luke LaSalle of Lincoln, RI; son John W. Cox and his wife Mindy and grandson David and granddaughter Melanie of Natick, MA.
In 2025, he received a House Citation from the State of Rhode Island for serving as the Director for the Senior Agenda Coalition of RI. He was also a devoted member of the First Unitarian Church in Providence, RI and a founding member of the Unitarian Universalist Legislative Ministry of Rhode Island. He was passionate about equality for all and fought for Civil and Human rights issues throughout the years.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, traveling, watching the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. He was a beloved and key member of many committees and enjoyed staying active in his community.
Services will be held at the First Unitarian Church of Providence, at 2:00 pm on Saturday, the 10th of January 2026. Donations in his name may be made to the First Unitarian Church of Providence or to the Senior Agenda Coalition of Rhode Island.
