Robert Craig Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Plumb-Smith Funeral Home - Flint on Jan. 13, 2026.
CRAIG, Robert W., of Messema, New York, formerly of Flint, age 82, passed away January 8, 2026 at his home while under the care of his family and Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley.

There will be a memorial visitation, 12:00-5:00 PM February 7, 2026 at Plumb-Smith Funeral Home, G-1208 North Ballenger Highway, Flint, Michigan. A private graveside service will be held later at St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Goetzville, Michigan.

Robert was born in Flint, Michigan, April 1, 1943, the son of the late Charles and Amnier (Romine) Craig. They had 6 children: Robert was predeceased by his sisters Betty, Hilma Joyce & Patricia. Jeff "Bud" Craig and Janet Owens currently reside in Michigan.

He attended school in Michigan and began serving his country in the United States Army. Robert served in the Honor Guard for President Kennedy's funeral procession. After his military service, Robert was employed as a Metal Fabricator at General Motors until his retirement.
Robert married Sharon (Duke) in 1964. They were married for 57 years until her passing. Throughout their marriage, they traveled the United States and Australia.

He is also survived by his daughters, Theresa (David) of Massena & Rebbeca (Will) of Norwood. He has 4 grandchildren: Meg (Brian), Zachary (Alyssa), Jonnie (Cletus) and Ruby. Robert was 'Papa' to his 8 great grandchildren: Cora, Jaxon, Stella, Greyson, Meara, Benjamin, Olivia and Weston.

Robert enjoyed living history reenactments, hunting, playing at the casino, watching television, fishing, reading, camping and spending time with family, friends and beloved pets. He was a member of the Brothers of the Wind (muzzleloading/reenacting group), the Knights of Columbus and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He will lovingly be remembered as the One and only "Mayor of Moeville". His silliness and pranks are part of what make us smile. His mischief and stories will live on.

Memorial donations for Robert may be directed to his daughters at 23 Pleasant St Massena NY 13662. Robert had donated regularly to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital & Tunnels to Towers.
