Robert "Bobby" Bernard Crite, Jr., began his book of life on September 11, 1947 in East Beckley, West Virginia. He was the first born to the late Fannye Bynum and late Robert Bernard Crite Sr.
Literally, Bobby's word was his bond-his pledge, his promise. He could be counted on to consistently come through in the toughest of situations. He was a strong man of principle and structure.
Bobby embraced his Native American heritage and was officially granted enrollment into the Cherokee Tribal Nation. He carried the Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood card to prove his lineage.
Bobby was baptized on January 15, 2015 surrendering his life to Christ.
Bobby lived an illustrious and adventurous life. After completing high, Robert enlisted into the United States Army in which he served honorably for over thirty years. He was also a police officer a First Lieutenant in the Civil Air Patrol and a First Sergeant in an elite Special Forces (Green Beret) Battalion, a scuba diver and paratrooper. After completing over 65 airborne jumps, he was awarded the high-level Master Parachutist Badge and also the Canadian Parachutist Badge, the Royal Australian Army Parachutist Badge and the German Armed Forces Parachute Badge Bronze. He truly believed in every oath he swore- "To Serve and Protect" his community and his country.
Bobby successfully graduated from Almeda University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and major in Logistics Management; Excelsior College with a Bachelor of Science degree and also held a Masters of Business Administration degree with a major in Human Resources Management also from Almeda University.
But Bobby's most significant accomplishment was his graduation from the United States Army Sergeant Major Academy Class 54. The United States Army Sergeant Major Academy is the highest professional military education an enlisted soldier can be selected to attend. The graduates of Class 54 were recognized for their high academic and leadership achievements.
Bobby served his country honorably during the Vietnam war, the Persian Gulf war and Global War on Terrorism. Prior to his retirement, he served as Acting Sergeant-Senior Enlisted Advisor for the United States Army Special Operations Command.
Bobby was a father, husband, grandfather, great grandfather and a Soldier's Soldier. He departed this earthly realm on Sunday, October 26, 2025.
Bobby is survived by: his loving wife/partner/friend, Wilma Hines Crite; daughters, Tonia Crite of Brownsboro, TX and Tasha Smith of Charlotte, NC; son, Michael Davis (Donna) of Raleigh, NC; daughter-in-law, Renea Davis; brothers, Darrin Crite and Tony Crite of Oakpark, MI; aunt, Janet Smith of New Haven, CT; five grandchildren, Ariana, Dechure, Christoper, Heaven and Julin; seven great grandchildren. Bobby was loved by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins-too many to count who thought of him as that smooth, intelligent guy.
Bobby was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Fred Bynum and Lillie Mae Griffin; paternal grandparents, Garnett Crite and Gladys Dobbs; son, Maurice "Moe" Davis; stepmother, Florine Crite; brothers, Garnett Crite and Michael Crite; and sisters, Lenora and Lisa Crite. All now welcoming him home.
