Dear Sandra, When I read your recollection of Robert it brought tears of joy and remembrance of just one of my son's beautiful qualities. He embodied so many uniquely special qualities so rare in today's world. I spent the last 10 months living with him and being enraptured by his magical nature. The fact that you remembered him from a chance encounter on the streets of Bethel reinforced just how special my son was. To lose him was the most painful experience, but to know how he affected mere strangers like you, validated every positive memory and for that I'm eternally grateful. Thank you for sharing your heartfelt memory.

I met your son once, sometime last spring. There was a little dog who was clearly not used to being outside on its own. It was staying on the sidewalk, going up and down the street, by the Congregational Church in Bethel. Another woman and I tried coaxing the dog over to us, but it kept moving away.

Robert came jogging down the sidewalk, and paused to talk with us because he noticed what we were doing. When we said the dog must be lost, he turned around and pretended to continue jogging - but as he neared the little dog on the sidewalk, he slowed down and scooped it up carefully with one hand. Then he started talking to the little dog so it wouldn't be afraid, as he cradled it in his arms.

Soon a young woman came running down the road, looking for her dog. She was crying, afraid she had lost him. She told us he was a therapy dog, and she didn't know what she would do without him.

As we all parted ways, I asked Rob his name - because I so admired his kindness.

I am sorry for your loss. What I saw on that day with the lost dog really matches the description of him in his obituary. That's why I wanted to share this story with you. I was disappointed to see that such a warm-hearted, kind young man has passed - far too young. He clearly touched a lot of lives, including mine.

May God bless you. May you find comfort in memories of the loving times you spent with your son.

To know Robert is to love him. He was brilliant, caring and always had a big hug to give along with a beautiful smile. He was like a son to me and I miss him dearly and the loss is overwhelming. Now you are at peace, Robert. You were so loved by many and will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, Robert.

I have nothing but the best memories with Rob. Working together at Bethel Food he always made me laugh, made our shifts go by faster, and would put such a smile on my face. He would stay up and talk to me when I was going through some really challenging times. It was always a great time when we got together over the years. I can honestly say my life is better for having known him. Wishing love and peace to all family and friends feeling the loss
