Robert Steven Cromwell, age 76 of Filer City died Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at Munson Healthcare Manistee Hospital.
He was born on June 16, 1949 in Frankfort, Michigan the son of the late Robert S. & Phyllis M. (Johnson) Cromwell. He was a graduate of Manistee High School Class of 1967. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He married Phyllis L. Puff on February 16, 1994 in Inverness, Florida.
Robert was employed by Morton Salt Company as an operator, retiring in 2008 and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4499 since 1972. He was a top Buddy Poppy distributor. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and going for rides looking for mushrooms.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Cromwell of Filer City; daughter, Shelly (Reggie) Asplet of Indianapolis, IN; sons, Steve & Stewart Cromwell of Grand Rapids, MI; two step-sons, James (Lisa) Lake of Traverse City and Richard Majchrzak of Filer City; three sisters, Marilyn Schweitzer, Pam (Delbert) Kelly, and Deborah Cromwell all of Manistee; one brother, David Cromwell also of Manistee; three grandsons, Reggie & Ethan Asplet of Indianapolis, and Braydon Schramski of Manistee. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
