Robert E. Crowley, a longtime Groton resident passed away at his home on Thursday February 15, 2018. He was 69 years old. Bob was born in Nashua on April 15, 1948, a son to the late John and Elizabeth (Tagg) Crowley. Along with his siblings he attended Groton-Dunstable Schools and later enlisted in the US Army and honorably served his country in Vietnam. Bob was larger than life. Always the life of the party, everybody seemed to drop what they were doing to have a listen to one of his signature stories. His sense of humor was priceless and he will always be remembered for his career as truck driver, his passion for racing cars and his easygoing nature. Some of his favorite stories came from his cross-country trips and his work with the 'Big Dig'. He loved meeting new people and showing off pictures from his most recent adventures. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Bob is survived by his daughters; Kristilynn Driscoll and his son-in-law, Richard of New Ipswich, NH, Ashley Purple of Nashua, NH and was predeceased by his daughter Lynn Michelle Crowley. He is also survived by his siblings; Jeff Crowley of Groton, Zoee Crowley of Hawaii, Sally Barber of Ohio, Liz and her husband Adrian Hewitt of Gloucester, James and his wife Pamela Crowley of Groton and Jack Crowley of Orlando, FL. He is further survived by his three grandchildren; Madelyn, Jonathan and Richard III Driscoll. Along with several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will gather to honor, celebrate and remember Bob on Monday, February 19th from 5-8pm at the Badger Funeral Home, 45 School St., Groton. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 20th at 11:00am in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in Groton Cemetery, Groton. Donations in Bob's memory can be made to: DAV- Disabled American Veterans P.O. Box 14301 Cincinnati, OH 45250-03011.

Sorry to read the news today about Bob. He was an awesome person whom we worked with for years. Whenever we built huge steel products that had to be shipped all over the East Coast it was Bob who always came to the rescue. The bigger the oversized load, the better he was. My favorite move was here in Lowell, when we had to move a 126 foot long steel fabricated smoke stack ...from Tanner Street across town to Saint Joseph's Hospital...It was made for the new power plant that was built to supply the Hospital. Bob scouted his route and developed a plan to move the piece. It worked out perfectly as we made it in record time through the city at daybreak on a Sunday morning. He pulled into the lot and unhooked his cab for a job well done. He said there was one more important thing to do....he reached into his cab and pulled out champagne for all of us....it was the first and only toast I ever had at 6 AM.....He was a classic, really great person. My best to all his friends and family members. Dennis Scannell .....Scannell Boiler Works ,Lowell ,Mass.
