Bob was born on November 13, 1942, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Harold and Thelma (Lowry) Cushman. He graduated from Kirkwood High School and obtained his master's degree in business from the University of Louisville in Kentucky. He married the love of his life, Beverly Talbert, on December 14, 1963, in Kirksville, Missouri. He worked as a design engineer and in management in the refrigeration industry until his retirement in 2004; Bob managed his private consultant firm after retirement.
Bob had a profound passion for aviation and the restoration of aircraft. He relished the opportunity to travel as a pilot. He proudly served in the Vietnam War as a U.S. Army veteran; he took pride in being a Commemorative Air Force and Wings of Hope member. He also enjoyed being outdoors, riding his tractor, landscaping, and producing fresh maple syrup annually. Bob found pleasure in many pursuits, yet nothing brought him greater happiness than the time he shared with his family, particularly with "his girls." Bob will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Bev Cushman; daughters, Sandy Cushman-Osborn and Terri Cushman; grandchildren, Amber Osborn, Angela (Zachary) Whiteley, Raechel (Seth) Fisher, Robert Marrs; great-grandchildren, Marshall Willits, Charlotte Whiteley, Everly Whiteley, Owen Whiteley, Navy Rae Fisher; nephew, Paul (Daphne) Cushman; niece, Yvonne (Hal) Espy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Bill Cushman, and son-in-law, Tony Ricklefs.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Commemorative Air Force or Wings of Hope.
