Robert D. Smith Obituary
Robert Daniel Smith, 79, of Roscoe, died on October 29, 2023.
Born April 26, 1944 in Peoria; son of Ivan and Vera (Kamp) Smith. Graduate of Morton High School class of 1963. United in marriage to Yvonne Mikolay on September 12, 1992 in Washington, IL.
Bob retired from Caterpillar after 37 years. Bob and his wife loved to travel all over the country. They especially enjoyed trips to visit many of the National Parks and cruise ship adventures. He was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves.
Member of the Illinois Valley Striders Running Club; Bob ran over 30 marathons in his lifetime.
Survived by his loving wife, Yvonne; daughters, Monique R. (Christopher) Weaver, Bryanne R. Schulz; grandchildren, Carter Weaver, Marcus Weaver, Grant Schulz, and Penelope Schulz. Preceded in death by his parents and brother, Larry Smith.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bob's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, https://act.alz.org/site/SPageServer?pagename=donate.
Memorial visitation at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 140 S. Detroit Ave. Morton, IL on Sunday, November 5, 2023 from 12 pm to 1 pm followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:00 pm. Private family interment at Hirstein Cemetery in Morton, IL.
