Robert G. Daisomont Sr., age 95, of Waterbury and formerly of New Fairfield and Punta Gorda, FL, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024 at Southington Care Center. He was the devoted husband of the late Mabel J. (Jamael) Daisomont for over 65 years until her passing in 2021. Robert was born on October 28, 1928 in New York City, son of the late Casper and Mae (Grant) Daisomont.
He graduated from Newtown Agricultural School, Long Island, NY and the Davey Tree Institute in Kent, OH. Robert worked for the New York City Department of Parks-Forestry Division, retiring after 29 years of service. Mr. Daisomont was very active in scouting, serving as Assistant ScoutMaster of Troop 42, New Fairfield for 13 years and was affectionately known by all scouts as “Mr. D”. In 1965 he was awarded the Civic Achievement Award by the New Fairfield Chamber of Commerce; other accolades included the District Achievement Award, Scouting Training Award, The Order of the Arrow, Woodbridge Award and the Silver Beaver Award. Robert made many memories with his family at Candlewood Lake, fishing and swimming for hours during the summers, before retiring to Punta Gorda and Rotonda West, FL. In 2007, Mabel and Robert decided to move closer to their family, settling in Waterbury.
He is the beloved father of Robert G. Daisomont Jr. and his wife, Lorna of Cheshire and Ronald Daisomont of Bridgeport. Robert also leaves his three loving grandsons, Robert G. Daisomont III and his wife, Jennifer of Middlefield; Jeffrey Ingerson and his wife, Heather of Wall Township, NJ; and Jamey Ingerson of New London; and his 9 cherished great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Donald Daisomont.
Friends may greet Robert’s family at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 So. Main Street, Cheshire, CT 06410 on Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 4PM until 6PM. A graveside service will be held at Mountain View Cemetery, CT-37, New Fairfield, on Friday, May 17, 2024 at 12PM. To leave online condolences for his family, please visit ww.fordfh.com
