Robert Fredrick David Raukohl Jr. : 75 years old of
Lake Villa, IL passed away Friday, December 15, 2023 at Advocate Condell Medical Center, Libertyville, IL. He was born March 23, 1948 in
Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late Robert and Bernice (nee Lemley) Raukohl. He lived in
Detroit, Michigan, Grand Island, New York, Shawnee and
Columbus, Ohio, and Waukegan, IL before settling in
Lake Villa, IL in 1980. Before his retirement, Robert was a teacher and building tradesman. He taught at Waukegan East High School, Lake County Area Vocational Center, Naperville Central High School, Grayslake High School, and retired from teaching while at Beloit High School. He was a member of the Antioch United Methodist Church and the Antioch Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 525. Robert was raised to Master Mason with Sequoit Masonic Lodge 827 A.F. & A.M. and was also a member of Scottish Rite and the Lake County Shrine Club. Robert volunteered in many ways over the course of his life beginning in the Boy Scouts of America. He coached both of his sons in Iceless Hockey and the girl's bowling team during his tenure at Grayslake High School. Robert volunteered through the Masons for Academic Bowl and other charitable events. He also ran several contests in the VICA skills contests in the areas relating to building trades. Retirement didn't slow him down any. Robert volunteered through his church, Meals on Wheels, and continued with efforts through the Masons and Shrine Club often joining area parades pulling the trailer for the Motor Corps. Robert enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and spending time with family. On August 16, 1969, he married Pamela Cummings in Lima, Ohio and she preceded him in death on April 9, 2018.
Survivors include: three children Beth Green of Racine, WI, Robert III (Angi) Raukohl of International Falls, MN, and Eric (Michelle) Raukohl of Woodland Park, CO; four grandchildren Alex and Megan Green and Robert IV and Emily Raukohl; a sister Lynne (Roger) Kem of Milton IN; two nieces: Leslie (Eric) Green of Maineville, OH and Allison (Drew) Chelminiak of Noblesville, IN; a brother-in-law Lee (Andria) Cummings of Savannah, GA; and many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, January 13th at 11:30 a.m. at the Antioch United Methodist Church. 848 Main St. (Rte. 83),
Antioch, IL 60002. Interment will be private. A reception will follow from 1p.m. until 4p.m. at the Lake Villa VFW 130 Grand Ave.
