Robert "Bob" P. Davis, 75, of Elkhart entered heavenly rest on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024, at home with his family by his side.
He was born on April 28, 1949, in Elkhart to the late Elmer and Lucille (Rollins) Davis and later married Lori (Bonfiglio) Higgins on July 30, 1983. Lori survives along with their children, Brenda (Marion) Schrock of Goshen, Mandy (Matt) Flick of Crested Butte, CO, Justin (Lindy) Higgins of Elkhart, and Paul (Ashton) Davis of Osceola. Bob leaves behind 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Lonnie and Steve.
Bob had a deep love for both children and athletics. He taught at Jimtown Elementary for nearly 40 years and was the driving force behind the annual overnight third grade field trip to Miracle Camp. He was responsible for organizing everything from fundraising to transportation along with coordinating numerous volunteers. Throughout his career, he coached various sports at both the high school and elementary level. He was also a loyal fan of the Chicago Cubs, Notre Dame and IU athletics. But most of all, Bob was an avid golfer. He really enjoyed the yearly Kentucky golf trip with his buddies for decades.
Above all, Bob took the greatest pride in his family, cherishing every moment shared with his loved ones and celebrating their accomplishments with unwavering support. He was a very devoted son as his mother battled Alzheimer's. He dedicated himself wholeheartedly to serving his community as a Baugo Lion, making a positive impact in the lives of others, leaving a legacy that will be deeply missed.
A time to celebrate his life is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 3, at Cruz Family Funeral Home with visitation from 1 to 4 p.m. On Monday, Nov. 4, the funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. with visitation an hour prior to service. Internment will take place following the service at Olive Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Center for Hospital Care. To light a virtual candle, share a story of Bob's life, or leave a message of comfort for his family, please visit the Tribune Tab on the funeral home website.

Mr. Davis was one of my favorite teachers! He made learning fun. He also was our girls basketball coach. I remember that he took us to watch the state finals so we could start dreaming! I loved babysitting for his girls. Later he taught my children and they were privileged to attend the infamous Miracle Camp field trip! It was the best!! Thank you Bob for pouring into the lives of so many in the Jimtown community! You will be missed. Hugs to you Lori and the whole family!!

I fondly remember Bob as a yoing boy when I babysat for his dear sweet mother. Then years later he became the elementary teacher for my children. They all loved him as a teacher and coach. He was a godly man with love for everyone. Lori, my heart goes out to you. Losing your spouse is heartbreaking, but my prayer for you is the peace only our loving Lord can fulfill. May Jesus be with you in the days ahead.
