Robert Davis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jackson-Sarver Funeral Home on Jan. 2, 2026.
Robert Charles Davis
of Covington, said goodbye to 2025 and his family as he passed away peacefully New Years Day morning at Hospice of Miami County. Bob was 98 years old, and until that day as he would say in his later years, "outlived another one." Born on July 26, 1927, in Bradford, Ohio, Bob was the son of Burr and Mary (Martin) Davis. His early life amidst the industrious hum of the family salvage yard instilled in him a resourceful spirit that remained a defining trait throughout his life.
Bob's journey was marked by love, dedication, and service. He proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army from 1950 to 1952, committing himself to the values of honor and courage. Upon returning home, his heart found its match in Mary "Irene" (Bricker) Davis, and their marriage on September 23, 1955, was the beginning of a 70-year journey filled with shared dreams and unwavering partnership.
Bob's work ethic was commendable as he spent many years contributing his skills to Miami Industries/Copperweld in Piqua before retiring in 1995. However, retirement did not slow him down. He found joy in simpler pleasures, such as gardening, nurturing his beloved gladiolas and tomatoes and imparting his love for gardening to his son Alan Davis (Sandra) of Ludlow Falls. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jock and William "Bill" Davis, and sisters Mary Ann Betts, Louise Swallow, and infant sister Thelma Davis.
Bob's frugal nature was a testament to his practical approach to life. Born from his early days in the salvage yard, it became a badge he wore honorably. He and Irene balanced this practicality with exploration, often embarking on bus trips with friends, making memories all across the country.
Above all, Bob was the personification of friendliness and love. His home-with Irene by his side-was a bastion of hospitality, where they enjoyed sitting on the front porch, waving at passersby, and observing the unfolding tapestry of life around them.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, January 6, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 PM Monday, at Jackson-Sarver Funeral Home, 1 S. Main Street, Pleasant Hill. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County or Covington Fire and Rescue. Memories may be shared with the family online at www.jackson-sarver.com
