Robert Glenn Dear, 87, of Crystal Springs, passed away on December 6, 2025, and went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at New Zion Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church, with interment in New Zion Cemetery. Stringer Family Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Robert was born on March 19, 1938, to Audrey and Hulon Dear. He was happily married to Sylvia Taylor Dear for over 65 years, and together they raised three sons.

He worked for Kuhlman Electric for five years, Ralston Purina for 25 years, and Apache Industries for 16 years before retiring.

Robert was a faithful member of New Zion Baptist Church for many years, where he proudly served as a deacon, treasurer, and the church's "Mr. Fix-It." He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping with family and friends, and he especially loved traveling to the Smoky Mountains.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Sylvia Taylor Dear; his children, Raymond (Melodye) Dear, Robin (Rebecca) Dear, and Russell Dear; grandchildren, Kayla, Hannah, Samantha, Ethan, Steven (Karson), and Ashley (Mark); seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his sister, Gail Hedderman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Leon Bennett; sisters, Catherine (George) Roland and Edna (Jack) Ward; and his brother-in-law, Arnold Hedderman.

Memorial donations may be made to the New Zion Baptist Church Building Fund, 12023 New Zion Rd
