Robert L. "Bob" Deems, age 86, passed away on August 24, 2025, at his residence. He was born on June 12, 1939, to Lawerance and Hazel (Averill) Deems in Vicksburg, MI. Bob served his country in the United States Air Force. The Deems family has been part of North Chester Baptist Church for many generations. Bob worked for 36 years in Machine Repair at Sparta Foundry. He enjoyed maple syrup season and hunting in the fall. On March 13, 1971, he married Sally A. Westbrook, and they were together for 56 years. SURVIVORS include Sally, two sons, Robert (Gen) Deems and Dennis (Amy) Deems, seven grandchildren-Robert J., Katie, Lawrence, Sidney (Loc) Tran, Kyle (Kaitlin), Noah, and Morgan; brothers, Jim Deems and Mel (Diane) Deems, and sisters Joyce Schut, Sue Mansco, and Kate (Ken) Montgomery. Bob was preceded in death by son, Donald Cobb, grandson, Sam Deems (who passed away two months ago), and brother, Donald Deems. A FUNERAL SERVICE with Military Rites offered by the American Legion Sherman Moore Post #297 for Bob will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at The Ravenna Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 3570 Thomas St, Ravenna, MI. 49451 with Pastor Don Veldt officiating. VISITATION with the family will be one hour before the service. Burial will follow at Bennet Cemetery. MEMORIALS may be directed to Kent City American Legion - Post 123.
