Robert Dennewitz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The Original Rago Brothers Funeral Home - Northwest Location -Norridge Chap on Dec. 9, 2025.
Robert S. ("Bob") Dennewitz loving husband of Frances "Fran" (nee Behnke); devoted father of Robyn (Craig) Rutherford, Kristen (Michael) Pontarelli, David (Susan) Dennewitz, Frances (William) Lominack, Jill (Vicente) Calderon, Daniel (Jill) Dennewitz, Margaret (Francisco) Rausa, Andrew, Sarah (John) Barabe, and Mary (Amanda) Dennewitz; Papa was a proud and cherished grandfather of Charlie, Thomas, Madelyn, and Emily Rutherford, Olivia (Dominic) Sciackitano, Jack, and Michael Pontarelli, Emma, Claire, Margaret, and David Dennewitz, Jake, Grace, Nathan, and Luke Lominack, Alex, Francesca, the late Fernando, Vincent, Nicholas, and Santiago Calderon, Isabel, Joshua, and Benjamin Dennewitz, Julia, Gabriella, and Eva Rausa, Samuel, Gabriel, Sophia, and Amelia Barabe, Adeline, and Scarlett Dennewitz; fond brother of Walter (Cindy) Dennewitz, and Candice and Gloria Suski; fond cousin to Barbara Arendt, uncle of many nieces and nephews

Bob "Papa" lived a life of service. In the Air Force, he served his country in Vietnam. He then dedicated the first 25 years of his work life to being a Chicago police officer. Later, he continued his commitment to public safety as a Watch Manager for the Office of Emergency Management and Communications.

Bob lived his life for his family. Everything he did, every sacrifice he made, every dream he chased, was rooted in his deep love for his wife, his ten children, and his 33 grandchildren. He and his beautiful wife shared 57 years of marriage, a lifelong partnership built on faith, commitment, and the quiet strength that became a defining part of who he was.

If something was broken, Papa could fix it! His hands, his skills, and his patience have touched every corner of our lives. He was a gifted craftsman, the one who remodeled rooms, built train tables, American girl doll dressers, and created things that will last far beyond his years.

Family was everything to him. Being called "Papa" was one of the greatest honors of his life. He was the best stuffing maker, the problem-solver, the steady protector. The man who showed us, through his actions more than his words, what it means to work hard, to dream boldly, and to take care of the people you love.

Hey Cousins ... So sorry for your loss !! There was a time when we were very close (we were kids) I feel like I missed something for sure not being part of your lives over the years. Uncle Bob was my Godfather and I remember really loving him a lot. I know for sure my life would have been better if he was more a part of it. Life is a funny thing sometimes wish all of the Dennewitz kids and your Families very very well !! God Bless I love You All Little Wally
