Robert Dennis Obituary
Robert Dennis Sr., Harrington, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at home with his family by his side, he was 89. Robert was the son of the late, Richard and Clara Dennis.
Robert was a hard-working man with a soft heart, always willing to help others. He worked at DuPont for about 35 years. Robert enjoyed fishing, coon and deer hunting, and spending time with his friends. He could be found most mornings at Rudy's Restaurant or Emma's Restaurant with his breakfast group. Robert attended Mount Carmel Adventist Church in Harrington. He will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his siblings: Nancy Thompson, Raymond Dennis, Roy Dennis, Richard Dennis, and Ralph Dennis.
Robert is survived by his children; Remona Hughes (Mike), Robert Dennis Jr., Polly Dennis, Debra Rourk, Johnathan Powell (Nikki), David Tinley, Donald Tinley (Dale), Yvonne Smith, and Debbie Angstadt (Richard); 21 grandchildren to include Jelsi Dennis, Shane Dennis, Jessica Vasquez, Dawn Smith, and Tiffany Hamil; 9 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren; his best friend, Albert Ratledge; longtime friend, Elise Brown; caregiver, Tabitha Nesbitt; hospice nurse, Jennifer; and a large extended family.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at the Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy., Harrington, DE at 12 Noon. A visitation will take place one hour prior starting at 11 AM. Interment will take place immediately after at St. Johnstown Cemetery, Greenwood.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made directly to Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home, Inc. to help defray funeral costs.
