Robert J. DeVall, age 86, of Ice Cracking Lake passed away quietly at his home on September 5, 2025.
Robert was born October 27, 1938, to Fredrick and Ethlelenn DeVall. He grew up in Herman, Minnesota where he attended school. Robert met the love of his life, Doris and they married on April 23, 1957, and had 5 children.
Robert worked as a painter and was able to travel a lot for work. One of the places he worked was the Oahe Dam in South Dakota and was proud of the work he did there. They ended up in Minneapolis for a period where he attended the Dunwoody Institute. He worked at Krause Anderson Painting while they lived in St. Louis Park, Minnesota.
Robert and his family decided to settle at Ice Cracking Lake in 1975. Robert’s hard work in the painting trade eventually led him to starting his own business, DeVall Painting, which he got to proudly work with his four boys at some point during his career.
He loved hunting, fishing and being outdoors. Robert and Doris enjoyed trips to the casino and to travel. Robert loved his family and always made sure he took good care of them.
Robert is survived by four sons, Roque, Roderick, Michael and Richard; 8 grandchildren, Crystal, Roque Jr., Jeriann, Quay, Sara, Corrine, Anthony, and Christina; 18 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Robert is preceded in death by his wife Doris, daughter Corrine, parents, one grandchild, one great-grandchild and one great-great grandchild.
