Holland: Robert R. DeVoe, 78, passed away on Monday, Sept. 9th, following a brief illness.
Bob was born in Augusta, ME the son of Roland and Rita (Turmelle) DeVoe. He was an unassuming man dedicated to his wife Lita from day one. He was a well-known builder who lent his talents to his loved ones for home improvements and custom builds like a carefully crafted train table for his grandson that he populated with the most intricate detail.
He raised both his sons to wield a hammer with prowess. They, along with his grandson, would follow in his footsteps as accomplished craftsmen in their own right.
Bob overcame significant challenges throughout his life to create a solid home for his family. Once his children were settled, he and Lita hit the road to tour the states in a massive RV, heading down south for a litany of adventures throughout Texas and Alabama.
He eventually returned to the northeast to settle in Holland, MA. Though his last few years were not without hardships and loss, he persevered.
He was a complex but quiet man-patient enough to teach his grandchildren how to remove a fish from a line and was ever equipped with treats for the neighborhood dogs. He enjoyed his time at the local Rod & Gun Club and always had some sort of home project in progress. Bob worked hard, loved the water and had a good book at hand until the very end.
He leaves behind his son Mike DeVoe and his wife Kris of Medfield, MA; his daughter-in-law, Sherry DeVoe of Plainville, CT; his brother, Mark DeVoe and his wife Nancy of Plainville, CT; his five grandchildren, Kelsey, Ally, Matt, Ava Lou and Willa and his great grandson JB.
He was predeceased by his wife Lita (Nadeau) DeVoe and his son, R. Scott DeVoe.
Services for Bob will be private. In his memory, donations can be made to the Cancer Research Institute at cancerresearch.org.
