Robert C. DiBona, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 29th at his home in Kingston. He was 86 years old. Bob was the beloved husband of Claire A. (Rogers) DiBona, with whom he shared a deep and loving bond that spanned many years.
Born on February 20, 1939, in Quincy, Massachusetts, Bob was the son of Domenic and Angelina (Paglia) DiBona. He was educated in the Quincy schools, graduating from Quincy High School before attending Curry College, where he earned his Associate degree. Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a Chaplain's Assistant from 1962 to 1968, a role that reflected his compassionate nature and commitment to helping others.
After returning from military service, Bob embarked on a successful career in retail, beginning at Kennedy's Clothing, where he worked his way up to sales manager. He later continued his journey at Filene's and Macy's, where he was known for his dedication and exceptional customer service. Following his retirement, Bob found fulfillment in his role as a Funeral Attendant at Cartmell-Davis Funeral Homes in Plymouth, where he served for over a decade. His work there was a true labor of love, as he took great pride in helping families during their most difficult times.
Bob was a devoted member of St. Joseph's Council #4480 Knights of Columbus in Kingston, where he was a founding member and served as Past Grand Knight. His commitment to the organization was evident through his active participation on various committees and as a 4th degree Knight with the Cardinal O'Connell General Assembly, where he was honored to be a member of the honor guard. Additionally, Bob was a dedicated member of St. Joseph's Church in Kingston, serving as an Eucharistic minister and lending his voice to the church choir.
In addition to his loving wife Claire, Bob is survived by his son, Stephen R. DiBona of Kingston, and his daughter, Christine A. Murray of Oak Island, North Carolina. He was a cherished grandfather to Tara B. Murray and her fiancé Matthew Fredette, and Erin D. Murray. Bob was also the brother of the late Joan Mackenzie and loving uncle to Maureen MacKenzie Hirt, Gayle MacKenzie Ferona, Laurie MacKenzie Ebersole and their families.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Bob's honor on Monday, May 5th, at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph's Church, located at 272 Main Street, Kingston. He will be laid to rest in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Kingston..
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Bob's name may be made to St. Joseph's Church food pantry, 272 Main St. Kingston, MA. 02364.reflecting his lifelong commitment to service and community.
Bob DiBona will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family and friends. His legacy of compassion and service will continue to inspire all who knew him.
