Funeral services for Robert Lee Dixon age 65, will be held Saturday July 16 at 11:00 am at the New Providence Baptist Church. Rev. Cliff Leonard will officiate. Burial will be in the New Providence Baptist Church Cemetery with Full Military Honors directed by Norton Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday 5-7 pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Dixon was born in Hartsville a son of the late Lee Edward Dixon and Mary Webb Dixon. He retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service. Robert joined the Army in December 1973 serving at Ft. Jackson, S.C., Ft. Gordon, GA, Ft. Campbell, KY, Vicenza Italy, Ft. Drum, N.Y., Ft. Hood, TX, Korea, Turkey, Pirmasens, Germany and Ft. Bragg. He also served in the theatre of Vietnam and the Gulf War.
Robert retired and returned home to Hartsville in 1993 with his wife Sherry and son, Richard.
Robert and Sherry were married for 40 1/2 years. He loved his family and his granddaughter, Izabella who was the light of his life.
Surviving is his wife, Sherry Elliott Dixon, Hartsville, one son, Richard (Jeannie) Dixon, Hartsville; three sisters, Betty Ann Dixon, Hartsville, Brenda (Steve) Allen, Hartsville and Cheryle Howle, Hartsville; one granddaughter, Izabella Dixon, Hartsville.
