Reverend Robert L. Dixon, 89, of Brentwood, TN, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025. He was born in Ashland, KY, to Delbert and Mary Hall Dixon. He was a 1954 graduate of Boyd County High School. He then served in the Air Force as a weather man. After his service to his country, he attended Trevecca Nazarene College where he graduated with a degree in religion. He also attended Christian Theological Seminary and Memphis Theological Seminary. He later returned to Trevecca to earn his master's degree. He began pastoring in the Nazarene church while still attending college. After he graduated, he devoted the remainder of his life to serving as pastor to Nazarene churches in Kentucky, New Jersey, Indiana, West Virginia, Virginia, and Tennessee. He retired from full-time pastoring in 2000. In his retirement years, he continued to serve as interim pastor for eight churches. After his last interim, he served as the Senior Adult Ministries Pastor at Trevecca Community Church for nine years. He and Kathy began a senior adult Sunday School class that remains to be a vital part of the congregation.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Kathy; his parents; a sister, Delores Meenach (Leo); brothers, Harold and Delbert Jr., and his son, Wayne Hemmeriy (Susan). He leaves behind his sons, Ken Dixon (Sunee) and David Dixon (Naomi), Patrick Hemmerly (Theresa); his grandchildren J Dana Dixon (Carol), Erin Hice (Zach), Emily Hughey, Nicholas Dixon (Katie), Stephen Hemmerly (Natalie), Sarah Hemmerly, Kaya Ahmed, Isabella LaFontaine (Adam), Harrison Hemmerly and Ava Dixon; and great-grandchildren, Alyssa Dixon, Kaitlyn Dixon, Mitchell Dixon, Zachary Dixon, Daniel Hughey, Lily Dixon, Baker Dixon, Willow LaFontaine, and Ledger Leddy-LaFontaine. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy Lawhorn; and brothers, Jim Dixon (Opal) and Don Dixon (Phyllis).

He devoted his life to fulfill his calling to preach the gospel in the Church of the Nazarene. The family will receive visitors on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 Noon with the funeral immediately following at Trevecca Community Church, 335 Murfreesboro Pike, Nashville, TN 37210.

Graveside service with Military Honors will be at the Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Pegram on Monday, November 17, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to The Nazarene Compassionate Ministries or to Trevecca Community Church Agape Sunday School Class.
