Robert W. Dixon, 75, of Harvard, passed away on Wed., March 4, 2026. He was born December 20, 1950, in Black River Falls, WI, the son of William L. and Dorothy E. Dixon.

On September 1, 1973 he married Donna Binder in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Survived by his wife Donna, daughter Erin Cobb of Harvard, son Scott Dixon of Harvard and two grandchildren, Gracie and Addison Dixon. He is also survived by his beloved rescue dog Hank and two rescue cats, Rusti and Cheeto. He leaves behind many friends who called him family at the House of Lawrence.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents Dorothy and William Dixon, and his mother and father-in-law Lois and Eugene Binder.

He was a graduate of Harvard High School and UW Whitewater.

In 1959, he started mowing lawns at Butcher Boy in Harvard. He continued to work there through college. He eventually worked is way from the accounting department to General Manager to comptroller before leaving there in 1991.

That same year, he began his career with the McHenry County Housing Authority until his retirement in May of 2020.

Robert was a lifetime member of the Harvard Moose Lodge 1289 since 1971. He became a member of the Legion on April 20, 1997, a Fellow in 2001 and achieving the highest degree of Pilgrim on 6/5/2021. He held the Governor chair twice in 1997 and 2005. Yet held many officer positions since 1992 and accumulated many, many volunteer hours.

He was also a proud member of Woodstock Elks lodge.

He will also be remembered for his time at Chemung Township. Starting there as a trustee in 1997 then becoming Supervisor in 2003 holding that position until 2021.

Bob lived a life of public service and always volunteering where needed. He was known for his willing to mentor those who wanted to gain experience. He will be best remembered for always looking ravishing, having a cold beverage in his hand and wanting everyone to have a good time. Bob will always be known for being a huge fan of the Blackhawks, White Sox, UW Warhawks and his beloved Green Bay Packers.

The visitation will be from 10 AM until the 12 Noon funeral service on Wed., March 11, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 504 E. Diggins St., Harvard, IL 60033. Interment will follow at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Harvard.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to the animal shelter of your choice in Robert's name. This would be a wonderful tribute to a man who lived a full and amazing life on his terms.
