Robert E. Dowhy, of Pennsauken, NJ passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 30, 2025. He was 74 years young. Bob was a retired Captain from the Camden City Fire Department including spearheading the initiation of and being Captain of the William Ables Fire Boat #1. He took much pride and joy in being a firefighter in the City of Camden, NJ. Bob also showed his dedication to his community through his membership in multiple organizations such as the American Legion Post 372, the pride of being a Mason, and his services in The United States Army.
Bob loved to socialize as he spent many summers in Barnegat Bay, NJ boating, fishing, grilling, and relaxing with family, and friends. He was always available to give a helping hand, whether it be cutting grass, snow blowing, or fixing things for a friend in need. He loved watching and cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles (GO BIRDS) and watching Golf.
Son of the late Joseph and Etta Dowhy; wife Sonja Logeren Dowhy; brother of the late Joseph Dowhy Jr. (Helen) and brother of the late Edward Dowhy (Diane).
He is survived by his beloved daughters Julene M. Dowhy Wilson (Michael); Ashlee J. Dowhy Leon (Shawn); granddaughter Amelia Leon; caring sibling Dennis Dowhy (Cathy); sister-in-law Diane Dowhy and many nieces, nephews and friends. Grandfather to fur-baby Sadie Girl.
The services will be private as a memorial service of Robert's life will be celebrated at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to your local Animal Shelter or American Legion Post #372.
