Robert Dugan Obituary
November 22, 1941 – December 24, 2025
Robert Lee Dugan, native son of Northern Virginia, passed on Christmas Eve, 2025, aged 84. He leaves his loving and devoted wife, Joyce Vernon Dugan, and sons Brian and Randolph from his previous marriage to Linda. He is preceded by his storied parents, Daniel Arthur Dugan, former Chairman of the Arlington County Board, and the beautiful Jeanne, née Caponi.
Bob loved dogs, kids, hunting, fishing, whiskey, oysters, Italian food, playing guitar, his friends, his students, and horses. He was athletic, intelligent, curious, and charismatic. Bob was co-captain of the Collegiate High School football team, a state champion skeet shooter, a winning drag racer, a fearless parachutist who made over one hundred jumps, and an enthusiastic foxhunter. He was happiest when teaching dressage, laughing with friends and loved ones, or working with his hands at the many hobbies that captivated him.
The family thanks the staff of Sunrise Senior Living, Hunter Mill for their thoughtful care, and the waitresses of the Vienna Inn for their kindness. In lieu of flowers, please spend some time outdoors, if you can, and think of him.
