Robert “Bob” Dunn, 72, beloved and proud Father, Grandfather, Son, Brother, Uncle and Friend, passed away peacefully in his home on January 17, 2024, in Ruidoso, NM.
Bob was born on November 12, 1951, in Berthoud, Colorado to George & Dorothy Dunn. He often reminisced of his childhood spent in many colorful places including Colorado, Washington, Germany, France, and New Mexico. He graduated from Alamogordo High School in 1970 as an honor student with a fierce love for golf and all things sports. He attended NMSU, UNM and Central Texas College where he earned a bachelor’s degree in University Studies. He enlisted in the Army and was a proud Vietnam Veteran. Following his military stint, he became owner and CEO of All American Moving Inc. in Ruidoso, NM. He had a passion for people and his business. He prided himself on helping people during life’s transitions into and out of Ruidoso for 40+ years.
Throughout his life he developed many interests. He was a world traveler, talented golfer, pool shark, avid gardener, knowledge seeker, storyteller, book reader, happy camper, boat captain, dog lover, sports enthusiast (Go Chiefs), art admirer, a treasure collector, and he loved all music especially Jazz and “the real Blues.” He was an amazing man and encompassed so many wonderful traits. He was hard working, dedicated, witty, warm, kind, loyal, fun loving and generous to all. He deeply loved his family and friends and always saw good in everyone. He will be dearly missed by so many.
Robert is survived by his significant other Georgina de la Garza; his daughters, Shawna Dunn-Rubio and her husband Victor Rubio, and Lacie Butler; his grand-daughter, Stella Doray; his sisters, Carol Franczyk and Debbie Kellar (husband Scott); his brother, Charles “Chuck” Dunn; his nieces and nephews, Lance Franczyk (wife Bianca and children Charlie, Phillip & Peter), Kelly Goza (husband JC and children Thomas, Matthew & Sammy), Brian Franczyk, Erika Dunn Romero (husband Justin), Christopher Dunn, Jimmy Laignel (wife Katie & son Kacey), and Geoffrey Gwynne; and his friends who are family, Patti Tryon, Eleanor Suzanne Dunn, Richard Conkey, Kassi & Terry Yarborough, Jessi & Keegan Rank, Jayci & Kinsley Stumpff, and so many more.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George & Dorothy Dunn; his grandparents, Charles & Ann Dunn, and Gerald & Edith Turner; and his brother-in-law, Phillip Franczyk.
A memorial service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ruidoso on Friday, February 9, 2024, at 11:00am. Please bring fond memories and a smile. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sierra Club (https://www.sierraclub.org/) in his honor as he has been a proud member of this incredible organization for 14+ years and held it near and dear to his heart.
