Robert "Bob" Eaker

Robert "Bob" M. Eaker, 88, of Camby, was released of all earthly ailments on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, while in the care of Miller's Merry Manor. He was born in Indianapolis on July 1, 1934, to the late Robert H. and Esther (Vaughn) Eaker.
Bob attended Washington High School, where he met the love of his life and soulmate, Frances "Lorene" Slagle. The pair were married on October 27, 1952, spending 66 years of blissful matrimony before her passing in 2019. A hard worker, he secured employment with General Motors as a Mill Wright, later retiring. He later purchased A&J Auto Sales which he managed for many years.
Devoted to God and family, Bob previously held positions as a church elder and adult Sunday School Teacher with the Charity Church in Indianapolis, attending regularly for more than 50 years. Giving to a fault, he was diligent to provide a comfortable lifestyle for those he held dear, he spent his free time tinkering with cars, hunting quail, rabbit, and squirrels, along with fishing. He will be forever missed.
Along with his beloved wife and parents, Bob was preceded in death by his siblings, Alfred Eaker, Gretta Allman, Betty Hall, Roberta Jordan, Harold "Buddy" Eaker, Carol Freeman, and son-in-law, Eddie Plummer.
He leaves behind his children, Robert "Bobby" Eaker (Mary) of Camby, Carol Plummer-Perdue (Don) of Mooresville, Linda Warner (Tim) of Greenwood, Laura Neeb (Scott) of Plainfield, Tim Eaker (Christina) of Mooresville, and Curt Eaker of Greenwood; in-laws, Bobby Slagle (Sandy) of Indianapolis, and Paul Slagle (Robin) of Monrovia; siblings, Rosie Totten, Patsy Davis of west Terre Haute, and Sandra Hawkins of Brazil; 23 grandchildren, many great and great grandchildren, along with a host of extended family and friends from within the church.
Services will be held privately, but will be livestreamed on Saturday, July 23, at 11:00am on Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel's Facebook page. Pastor David Gibson will officiate, and a private burial will immediately follow in West Newton Cemetery.
