Robert Eddington Obituary

Robert Lisle Eddington

1952-2023

Bountiful, Utah-It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Robert Lisle Eddington, 71, on October 11, 2023, surrounded by his family.

Rob was born on January 9, 1952, to Lisle H. and Afton (Peterson) Eddington in SLC, UT. He was the baby brother of three sisters who gave him lots of attention.

Rob worked for more than 20 years at the Kennecott power plant until he became the owner of Murphy's Bar and Grill in 1998. He treasured the time spent working at Murphy's and the friendships he built there. He also loved being the boss.

Rob enjoyed fishing, boating, and traveling. He saw many places in the world with Linda, but his favorite place, where he most often returned, was Belize. Lake Tahoe also held a special place in his heart because that is where he married the love of his life, Linda. Rob and Linda had a wonderful life together. They enjoyed simple pleasures of sitting in the hot tub, making meals, and viewing beautiful sunsets from their deck.

Rob was an amazing craftsman which was showcased in his bar and in his home. He constantly repaired things for his family and friends. He paid excellent attention to detail, never rushing through, always doing it right. He would proudly state, "Mr. Fix-It has struck again!"

Rob was adventurous and determined; whatever he decided to do, he found a way to do it. He was a self-taught businessman, he earned his pilot license, and he learned to scuba dive. He also loved watching terrible SYFY television and movies with anybody willing to endure them.

He was an incredibly loving and sometimes stubborn husband, father, and boss with strong opinions. He was a cherished father to his children, Lance and Mindi, teaching them to fish, camp, and always stand up for themselves. He loved his grandchildren with all his heart and always supported them in their various activities. His level of compassion was deep, yet often went unnoticed because he did things quietly without needing recognition. He loved the blue jays and the hummingbirds around his house and especially his cats. He believed and lived a philosophy of random acts of kindness.

Rob is survived by his wife, Linda, and his children Lance (Heather) and Mindi Holmdahl (Paul), his sisters Patricia Christensen (Gary), Barbara Jones (Win) and Janet Clapham (Steve) and his seven grandchildren.

Robert's memory will live on with all who knew him. He will be sorely missed. A viewing from 9:30am to 10:30am with a celebration of life following at 11:00am will be held on Wednesday October 18, 2023 at Lindquist's Bountiful Mortuary 727 N. 400 E. Bountiful, UT 84010.

My heart-felt condolences go out to Linda and their family. Rob was a fantastic man who endured so much and still had a smiling face thru it all. Rob always had a neatly pressed shirt and pants in hand ready to surrender his treatment scrubs in a minutes notice, and yes he did enjoy all types of SiFi moves. He will be sadly missed

Rob, Linda, myself and my husband (Ron) traveled together to Puerto Vearta. We all went fishing, but only Linda and I caught fish. Linda and I got a great laugh, as did the people who own the boat. We also went fishing at Strawberry many times. Always stayed at their lovely home when visiting Utah. Loved these times together. I'll miss you Rob, as will your loving wife.
