Robert G. Egan

Robert G. Egan, age 83, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Angela D. (Double) Egan with whom he enjoyed 60 years of marriage.
He was born in Watertown, New York on November 23, 1941, and was the son of the late Roy and Helen (Frost) Egan.
He was raised in Watertown and graduated from Immaculate Heart Central High School.
After High School, Robert joined the United States Air Force and served from 1961 to 1981. During his time of service, he was deployed to Europe and Vietnam and was also stationed in various locations in the U.S.
After his military service, he worked for several years at Telex Communications before taking a job at the U.S. Post Office from where he eventually retired.
Bob really enjoyed spending time doing volunteer work. He helped out at the Chelmsford Senior Center, including providing rides to appointments for senior citizens. And, he delivered for Meals on Wheels right up until shortly before his passing.
Bob also enjoyed playing golf and was an avid Nascar fan. He liked to watch all types of sports. But, his favorite pastime was attending and participating in classic car shows sharing his love of cars with others. He was a member of the Road Runner Club. He even enjoyed chauffeuring his cars for special events, including weddings. Bob cherished the time he spent with family and truly enjoyed special moments playing with his great-grandsons.
In addition to his loving wife, Robert is survived by three sons and their spouses; Gary Egan and his wife Lisa of Lowell, Stephen Egan and his wife Michelle of Ayer, and Patrick Egan and his wife Bridget of Lowell. He has 3 grandchildren; Ashley Dionne and her husband Corey, Brittany Egan and her partner Sean and Brady Egan and his partner Abbie and 6 step-grandchildren; Jesse Hovey, Chase, Calvin, Laela, Kaiden and Shylah Higginbottom and he was the much loved "Papa" to his two great-grandchildren; Logan and Noah Dionne. Bob also leaves behind four brothers; Richard Egan and his wife Terri, James Egan and his wife Alice, David Egan and Carl Egan and his wife Cathy, several nieces and nephews and his "Friday Coffee Club" friends; Bob, Bill, Eric and Kevin.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, February 3, 2025 from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen Street, Chelmsford. His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at 11am at All Saints Episcopal Church, 10 Billerica Road, Chelmsford. KINDLY GATHER AT THE CHURCH. Interment will be held privately. Memorial donations may be made in Robert's memory to St Jude Children's Research Hospital and American Cancer Society.
