Robert was born in Mitchell, South Dakota to Martin and Kathryn Ernster on August 26th, 1945. He graduated high school in Mitchell, South Dakota. Robert moved to California for a few years but returned to South Dakota.
Robert worked as a supervisor in a retail grocery store in Parkston, South Dakota. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems from Dakota State University in Madison, South Dakota.
Robert is survived by his niece, Pamela Hanson of Vermillion, S.D., his nephew, Jeff Ernster Laramie, WY and Craig Ernster of Harrington, NE.
He was preceded in death by his father, Martin Ernster, his mother, Kathryn Ernster, his brother, Wallace Ernster and one nephew, Gregory Ernster.
A private family graveside service will be held at St. Agnes Calvary Cemetery in Vermillion, South Dakota.
