ROBERT FISHMAN

FISHERMAN ROBERT May 20, 1935 - January 4, 2026 Robert Fishman was born on May 20, 1935 in Brooklyn New York to Al Fishman and Rose Glasser Fishman. He and his older brother David grew up in Brooklyn. Bob married Barbara Miller 70 years ago and they moved to Philadelphia. He formed and built Resources for Human Development (RHD) with his friend Bert Wolfson in 1970. Bob served as the Executive Director of RHD from 1970 to 2013. From the platform of RHD, Bob and the RHD team challenged injustice and built systems that cared for people in the greater Philadelphia area in traditional as well as innovative ways. RHD continues to this day providing care to people and fighting injustice. Bob was a problem solver. He loved a puzzle to unravel. He looked at problems whether they were based in interpersonal relationships, social norms or political structures as a logical puzzle that could be fixed. Bob is survived by his wife Barbara of 70 years, their three sons, Eric Fishman married to Carol Greco, Peter FosterFishman married to Pennie Foster-Fishman and Michael Fisher married to Ann Fisher. They have 6 grandchildren, Elliot, Rose, Ira, Aiden, Lane and Oakley and 3 greatgrandchildren, Remie, Willow and Leah.
