Robert E. Fitzmaurice, 82, of Minonk, passed away at 4:55 p.m., on June 30, 2025, at the Richard L. Owens Hospice Home, Peoria, Ill.
Robert was born February 2, 1943, at Minonk, Ill. He was the son of Emmett and Rachel (Schilling) Fitzmaurice. He married Patricia Wilder on October 1, 2005, in El Paso, Ill. She died November 2, 2017.
Survivors include his stepson, Father Daniel Wilder of Tehachapi, Calif.; and his brother, Glenn Fitzmaurice of Hennepin, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother, William.
Robert served in the United States Army and retired as a Trooper from the Illinois State Police. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Minonk, the Minonk Knights of Columbus Council #985, and a Fourth Degree member of the Streator Council Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Illinois Retired State Troopers Association and was an avid train enthusiast.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 207 W. 3rd Street, Wenona, Ill. Burial with military honors will be at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Minonk. Ruestman Harris Funeral Home of Minonk is assisting the family with arrangements.
