Robert E. Forgette

Robert E. Forgette, 94, of Menominee, MI passed away on July 19, 2023. He was born July 25, 1928 to Ida "Bernice" Forgette in Nadeau, MI and was raised by his grandparents, Mitchell and Jenny Forgette. He was a graduate of Stephenson High School, Class of 1946. After graduation he moved to Joliet, IL where he worked in the office at Hayes Freight Line Company. He later returned to the area and attended the Beauty Academy in Iron Mountain, MI receiving his cosmetology license. He worked in the office at Sterling Engine Company in Menominee and later at Rose Beauty Salon in Menominee for many years. He was elected to the Menominee Township Board in 1976, serving as Township Clerk for twelve years, retiring in 1988.
He married the former Patricia Nagler June 18, 1960 at Holy Trinity Church in Birch Creek. They were the last couple married in that church before it was torn down making way for the new church to be built.
Robert enjoyed music and singing and was the organist and choir director for the young girls choir at St. Bruno's Church in Nadeau, MI. He was a member of Holy Redeemer Church in Birch Creek, serving as organist for many years, also playing for their choir.
An avid gardener, he enjoyed growing many things, sharing his bounty with family and friends. He was most proud of the flowers he grew, spending many hours weeding and watering them. Everyone visiting during the summer months received a tour of his flower beds.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia; daughters, Julie (Darrell) Beyer and Krista (Perry) DeMeuse; sons, Steve (Mary) Forgette and Noel Forgette; grandchildren, Matt and Justin DeMeuse, Robert and Josh Forgette and Courtney Forgette; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Parker, Robert and Cael.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Bernice; grandparents, Mitchell and Jenny; a brother, Glen Johnston; a sister, Ellen Pacque; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and lifelong friend, Bob Lindstrom.
Visitation will be at Holy Redeemer Church in Birch Creek on Saturday, July 22nd from 9 until 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. with burial in the Birch Creek Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff of UP Hospice, especially Amy, Jasmine and Diane, for their kind and compassionate care of Bob.
