Robert J. Francis, 74, formerly of Baytown, departed this life early Tuesday, June 3, 2008, peacefully at a Baytown healthcare facility. Born in Houston on September 25, 1933, he was the son of Walton Davis Jack Francis and Violet Sullivan Bramlett. A loyal "Gander fan," Bob graduated from Robert E. Lee High School, attended Commonwealth College of Science and then worked for Paul U. Lee Funeral Home. On May, 1 1967, Bob joined the Houston Police Department and worked in accident investigation, in internal affairs and with juveniles. Following his 25 year career with HPD, he retired and went to work for Goose Creek CISD in security at Ross S. Sterling High School. In 2002, Bob became a valued member of the staff of L.A. Crespo Funeral Directors. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 1442 in Old River and was also a longtime member of the HPD Bicycle Relay Team. He and his wife, Norma, were active members of Garth Road Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir and served on numerous committees, including serving as a church trustee. Bob and Norma remained involved with their church even after moving last year to Liberty.
Preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Rudy Francis and David Bramlett, Bob is survived by his loving wife, Norma Jean Francis, formerly of Baytown now living in Liberty; his children, Carole Henehan and husband, Doug, of Mississippi, Donna Coronado, of Baytown, Darla Simpson and husband, Andy, of Baytown, Donna Dalstra, of Vidor, Jacki Kokes and husband, Kyle, of Highlands, Judi Presnull and husband, Jason, of Liberty; grandchildren, Kathleen Henehan Roy and husband, David, Sara Henehan Morea and husband, Jared, Rebekah Henehan, Erin Henehan, Dustin Coronado, Desiré Coronado-Dodson, Derek Coronado, Caitlin Dalstra, Cole Dalstra, Scotty Tompkins, Shara Simpson Huff and husband, Joey, Shane Simpson, Sharla Simpson, Jacob Gourlay, Kelsey Kokes, Cody Kokes, Lauryn Presnull, Ashlyn Presnull, Jaci Presnull; great-grandchildren, Ava Lynn Morea, Elyzabeth Huff, Andrew Huff; bother-in-law and wife, Gerald and Ruby Frazar; sister, Yvonne Bramlett Yeager; and uncle, Connell Lee Sullivan; and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2008, at Crespo & Jirrels Funeral and Cremation Services. A service of remembrance will be held on Friday, June 6, 2008, at 10 a.m. at the Chapel of Crespo & Jirrels, with Pastor Jim Lamb officiating. Burial will follow at Heirlawn Cemetery in Dayton. Honoring the family as pallbearers will be Darrell Jackson, Gary Norman, Mike Lamb, Joey Huff, Shane Simpson, Dustin Coronado, Derek Coronado and Dean Duncan.
