Robert Frazier Obituary

Robert "Bob" Lee Frazier, 88, of Manning, S.C., formerly of Washington, was called to his Lord Thursday, January 23, 2025. Born August 31, 1936, Bob was the only child of John H. and Helen M. Frazier. On January 2, 1987, he married Janice Alice Converse. Bob graduated from Washington High School in 1954 and embarked on a diverse career, starting at Washington Steel and McGraw Edison, later working at Knights Inn, and finally at the Baymont Hotel. After retiring, he and Jan relocated to South Carolina. Bob and Jan were devoted members of the Presbyterian Church at Manning, embracing the charming Southern lifestyle. Bob found joy in relaxing at the beach, antiquing for Duncan Miller glassware, participating in the local golf league, and traveling around the East Coast to visit family and his grandchildren. Bob played high school baseball and participated in the first year of Pony League in Washington. He was a long-time coach and mentor in Washington baseball, spanning over 20 years in Bronco League, Colt League, and American Legion. Bob was also an avid supporter of youth wrestling, serving administrative roles for Trinity youth wrestling, as well as serving as the long-time announcer for Junior Olympic Wrestling tournaments. Bob loved competition; he enjoyed dart ball, softball, bowling, golf, pool, horseshoes, and playing cards. He was always ready for a challenge and willing to wager on himself. He enjoyed playing dart ball with his dad and friends throughout Washington, always bringing home trophies and stories. He had a passion for playing golf and had many partners everywhere he lived: Washington, Ohio, Wisconsin, and South Carolina. A lifelong sports enthusiast, Bob found his greatest joy in watching his children excel in baseball, football, wrestling, golf and cheerleading. He took immense pride in their achievements, as well as in the successes of the many young athletes he coached over the years. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his daughter, Jamie Lynn Frazier. He is survived by his loving wife, Jan; children: John (Milla) Frazier of Goose Creek, S.C.; James (Tonya) Frazier of New Market, Md.; Jeffrey (Samantha) Frazier of Mechanicsburg; Lorraine (Michael) Parrish of Fairfax Station, Va.; and Richard (Monica) Taylor of Vancleave, Miss. He was also adored by his 12 grandchildren. The funeral will be private, and a celebration of life will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Prexies Pals Fund of Washington School District. This fund was started by his daughter, Jamie and is used to purchase prom dresses, tuxedo rentals, and scholarships for life skills students. Checks can be made payable to WSD Prexies Pals Fund and sent to Washington School High School, Attn: Kellie Ryburn, 201 Allison Avenue, Washington, PA 15301.

My sincere sympathy to Bob's family. My late mother Constance "Connie" (Andy) Marano was also a graduate of Wash High Class of 1954 which she loved. I do recall her speaking fondly of Bob when sharing memories from her days as a Prexie. I remember your husband and dad from my brief time involved in Trinity Youth Wrestling. I wish each of you the comfort of happy memories as you try to navigate his passing.
