Robert Lee Gause

Robert Lee Gause, was born on June 28, 1945, in Ripley, Tennessee. He raised with his siblings, Eleanor, Paul, James, Shirley and Denise. As a child, he enjoyed boxing, playing baseball, and working on his grandpa’s farm. A family favorite, Robbie was well loved and developed into an amazing young man. 

He was educated at Elyria High School where he graduated in 1967. Following high school, Robbie enlisted in the United States Army where he fought in the Vietnam war and served with dignity until 1975. During his time in the Army he became a Green Beret.

Robbie worked in several industries throughout his working years including, welding and truck driving; however he mastered his craft becoming a Master Electrician. He always performed his duties with a spirit of excellence. 

Robbie met a lovely lady by the name of Debra Ann Stuchlik while hanging out at Argo Park on a wonderful sunny day. They instantly connected and were later married in July of 1982. The couple spent 20 wonderful years together, riding around the city, shopping, hanging out with family and friends, and cooking meals together. Robbie was blessed to with the birth of his children, Maymay, Robert, Steven, Nicole, Roberta, Sabrina, Annie, and Josh. His children have many wonderful memories of him. He was more than just a provider, he was there to support them when they needed it most.

A member of Anchor of Hope Church, he found great pride in his faith and community involvement. Robert was also a great card player, enjoying moments spent with friends such as Barny Rodriguez, Scott Cierpal, and Robert Gill. His approachable personality and reliability earned him the respect and admiration of those around him.

He gained an additional source of pride and joy with the addition of his grandchildren, Frankie, Breanna, Samantha, Josiah, Echo, Koy, Mya, Alyssa, Marcus, Debra, Sam, Gemiya, Robert, Ava, Andre, Joshua II, Le'Adein, and Asanie. Known affectionately to them as Granp's, Popz, or Papa. Although Robbie did many things to support his grandchildren, what stood out the most was his enjoyment watching cooking shows, animal planet, and westerns. Not to forget, he would take them on drives around town, that made them feel like they were travelling around the world.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Debbie Stuchlik; his mother, Susan Nolen ; his father, Anderson Nolen; his sisters, Elnora Nolen, Mary F. Lowe, Patricia A. Nolen, and Carrie J. Nolen; his brothers, Eddie Nolen and James A. Nolen; and his son of love, David Howard.

Robert is survived by his children: Robert, Steven, May May, Nicole, Roberta, Sabrina, Annie, and Josh; as well as his additional children of love, James, Brandy, and Yanna. He is also mourned by his siblings: Eleanor Nolen, Paul Nolen, Anderson Nolen, James Whitlaw, Shirley Nolen, and Denise (Femmings) Nolen. 

As we remember Robert Lee Gause, we are reminded that he lived and he loved. As he would often be quoted, “together we stand, divided we fall”. He was truly a living example of this and he kept this mentality through the duration of his life.
