Robert Dale Giese, fondly known as Bob or uncle Bob, was released from here with a celebration of a good life to be with the Lord on August 2, 2025, in his hometown of
Pensacola, Florida, at the age of 78. A cherished and loving father, brother and uncle, devoted friend and compassionate soul, Bob's presence enriched the lives of all who knew him. He was born on February 24, 1947 in Portales, New Mexico. Bob was the son of Marion and Edith Giese and was raised in Lovington, New Mexico. Bob joined the Navy, August 24, 1965. He joined through Hobbs New Mexico after he graduated Lovington High School in 1965. He graduated Boot Camp in December '65, followed by an assignment to a ship in Norfolk followed by assignment, to Pensacola for CTO as a cryptologic technician. After that he left and reported to Reykjavik Iceland in January '66 for 14 months and then he was stationed at Naval Security Station Washington, DC until discharged in August '69. He re-enlisted in Hobbs, New Mexico for duty in Honolulu Hawaii for four years and he never looked back. (And that's where Wendy was born!) He transferred to Japan, then San Diego and then to Puerto Rico, and made promotion along the way to Chief Petty Officer. He received a degree in San Diego and upon arrival in Puerto Rico applied for officer candidate training school in Rhode Island, where he was picked up for commission in the Navy and became a Supply Corp Officer and spent the next 10 years chasing bacon, bears, foxes and Marines. He then retired from the Navy to
Pensacola, Florida. After the completion of nine years VA service, he fully retired. He enjoyed fishing when he was able to and when he couldn't go, he lived vicariously on YouTube watching Cole & Jay. (He would urge you to watch them!) Back in the day he was a car enthusiast! He was always at a car show or he was parading his 1930 Model A, with a rumble seat! (That he was refurbishing) He went on to celebrate his life with the rest of his family in
Pensacola, Florida. It was not a good fight, he said, but it was a hard fought life in the name of Jesus Christ. He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his first wife, Aura Giese. (20 years) He is survived by his daughter, Wendy Giese, his grandchildren, Richard Dale McLeod (Blair) and Breanna McLeod, his great grandchildren, Dominic McLeod and Koa McLeod, his siblings: Billy, Janice (Martin), Jerry (Gail), John, Tom (Terri), David, Ann (Jay) and Sue, and by many nieces and nephews.
