Robert Blane Gilbert, 67, of Spartanburg passed away on October 30, 2024. Blane was born on November 7th, 1956, to the late Robert F. Gilbert and Barbara N. Gilbert of “Gilbert and Sons Shoe company.”
After graduating from Dorman High School, Blane joined the United States Army. When he returned back home from the Army, he joined the family business and worked at Gilbert and Sons Shoe Company for many years.
Blane had a love for Nascar and spent his younger days building and racing dirt track cars. Blane was a people person and had many wonderful friends that were always there for him.
He is survived by his children, Casey Vaughan (Andy), Chase Gilbert. Two stepdaughters, Melody Hood (Jamie), and Helen Bailey. One brother, Bruce Gilbert. Seven grandchildren, Madison (Chase), Logan, Robbie, Brittany, Heather, Tony, Jamie, and two great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brother Barry Gilbert.
He will be truly missed by his family and friends, but there is comfort and peace knowing that he is now fully healed.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 9th, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the J.M. Dunbar Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 10 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to, First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, Encouraging Word, 250 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306 or the Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road Spartanburg, SC 29303.
