I was so saddened to hear of Rob´s passing. Back in 1992 I met Rob at SNCLavalin where I spent so much time with him and Sharon the most wonderful couple to this day I ever met. We frequented bars and spent many amazing memories at their house in Calgary. If Sharon does happen to read this it´s Bruce ! Please call me.

My dearest Sharon,

I´ve been thinking of you as this season unfolds-on Rob´s birthday, and with Christmas up. Not all "firsts" are good ones hey?

Know that you don´t have to be "okay" right now. You just have to be - one breath at a time.

Wishing you strength, softness, and all the space you need to honour Rob, and to care for yourself.

With much love,
Millie Vanilli xx

Ps. I´m on FB as Wilde Willemien. Please feel free to reach out if you need anything. I can´t make the ache less but I can sit in it with you as long as you need my friend.

Sharon, Teresa and I are so sad to hear of Rob's passing. We remember him being as nice a guy as you could meet. Lashar took me to my first Aramco party at your house. What a great first impression I got of Rob as the first bartender I met in Saudi. He poured me my first sid beer. We had forgotten about Rob doing the commentary at softball games until Fred and Jimmy mentioned it. What a treat that was. Deepest condolences and all the best to you. Dave and Teresa Clark

Dear Ms. Sharon, We are so sorry to hear about the loss of your wonderful husband, Mr. Robert Clifton Goings. Rob was someone very special to me and to the many others he came in contact with. He was always an authentically genuine individual with a great outlook on life (Faith, Family, Friends). He had a strong will and determination to succeed, excelling in all the challenges life brought before him. A Highly Motivated Individual with tremendous integrity and a loving wife gave Rob all the "Will Power" to rise above the challenges to become a highly motivated and successful professional. His Drive to succeed was inspirational to all who had the honor and privilege of knowing him. I Thank You for taking such good care of him and yourself...! You brought him so much joy, love, hope and happiness, and as they say; behind every good man is a good woman. I Agree With That... May Rob RIP and may all your days be filled with the many GREAT Friends, Memories of Life, Love, Happiness and Marriage, Rob and You shared. Be Forever blessed..! Amen...!
Please take care of yourself and know Rob´s Good Will/Good Faith and his love for you is Eternal...

I met Rob in Saudi at Aramco 35 years ago. We´ve communicated every day via text, email or phone calls for the last 12 years. I will forever miss our communication and unwavering friendship. Rob was a compassionate, intelligent and an extremely valuable confidant. I could write a book telling stories of our years as friends. My wife, Barb, and I are praying for God´s healing and comfort for Sharon, Amy, Will and his sister Denise. Rob was loved and will be missed by hundreds. God Bless you Rob, Rest In Peace, buddy!

It´s hard to find the right words to honor someone as extraordinary as Rob Goings.

He wasn´t just a colleague; he was a dear friend and a remarkable human being who left an indelible mark on everyone lucky enough to know him.

My journey with Rob began during my Aramco days in the 1990´s, 2000s and 2010s.

Rob loved his work, he had a brilliant mind, he was always a strategic thinker, coupled with his gift for clear and thoughtful communication, he made every project we worked on together something special.

After Aramco we reunited at Purdue University were he led us in building a best practices strategy for their Engineering department, then again at the California High-Speed Rail project, diving headfirst into one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects in the country. After that Rob helped build an Owners market strategy for a major construction software company. He had so much talent!

Not long after, we found ourselves back in Saudi Arabia, this time on the Sabic project-proof that our paths were somehow destined to keep crossing. We had quite a journey Rob!

But my memories of Rob go back even further, to the 1990s in Dhahran. Rob and Sharon opened their home to so many of us, creating a space that felt like family. Those gatherings remain some of my most cherished memories.

Of course, Rob announcing softball games and tournaments were legendary!

Rob wasn´t just an exceptional professional-he was a kind soul with a generous heart.

He made work feel less like work and more like a shared adventure among friends. Rob was legendary in Engineering and Project Management.

Rob, you will be deeply missed. Thank you for the friendship, the wisdom, and the countless memories. You made the world a better place simply by being in it.

Sharon,
The news of Rob´s passing shocked me and Davida. You both opened up your home to us all, shared your hospitality on so many countless nights over the years in Saudi at the finest bar I ever saw in Kingdom. You were both so gracious and fun. Rob´s very quick wit and sharp humor made me laugh so often. I loved his "Voice of the Thunder" commentary during our softball games. So many stories over the years, Noel Ginest and I have been recounting some of them.....He was a lovely guy and he is missed. God rest Rob´s soul and keep you in his grace Sharon.

My dearest Sharon,
I am so, so sorry for your loss. I have no words that can make it better but I send you all my love and wish you strength and peace during this time.
Rob was the epitome of a true friend to many. Loyal, sincere, down to earth, hilariously and subtly eccentric, and a genuinely nice guy.
Even though we drifted apart over the years, the times I spent with the 2 of you will always hold a very special place in my heart. I don´t think I will ever be able to listen to Country music without thinking of Rob ... in his element behind his bar at your house in Saudi. I remember thinking...often...how unique he was in his absolute acceptance of others without any apparent desire to change or control them. And how absolutely inspirational I found it.
I remember his love for devilled eggs, his long suffering sighs at your smoking habit, his latex gloves, his joy at me coming over to play board games with you cos that meant he didn´t have to, the seemingly endless supply of McDonald´s Cheese burgers he could conjure up during happy hours...but mostly his calm steady presence through it all. Kind, gentle and the voice of reason if things felt like it was falling apart.
Rob was a good man and his passing will felt by many. But mostly it will be felt by those closest to him...you and his sister.
In the words of W.S. Mervin:
"Your absence has gone through me
Like thread through a needle.
Everything I do is stitched with its color."
I cannot even begin to imagine what you must be going through right now Sharon, but I will hold you in my heart and prayers.
Sending you much love, Willa xx

Sharon,
Our hearts break with the news of your loss. You and Rob were the first people to hear of our engagement. Countless amazing memories were made involving you both, your welcoming home, many social events in KSA, but in general your magnetic personalities. Rob had an uncanny way of making people feel at ease and laughter was always involved. Between our family and Zee's, our kids thought of yours as their third home.
We can not imagine the depth of your sorrow at this time but please know there is so much love and strength being sent your way.

My heart is broken over the loss of this sweet gentle soul. His kindness to me and always sharing his memories of Tim with me helped me through some tough times. Not too long ago he sent me a package filled with things of Tim´s that he had. I can´t begin to tell you what a treasured gift it was along with the very special letter to me. Robert was like a little brother to me. Sharon, Denise and all who loved him- my prayers are with you today and always as you face the hard days ahead. Hugs and much love to you all.

To Sharon and the rest of Rob`s family, I am so sorry for your loss.
Rob was always a friendly guy to everyone he met. I admired his intellect and quick wit. He was always the epitome of a good time with great parties and always somebody interesting to talk to. He had good advice if asked. And he and you Sharon made such a great couple.
The last time I saw Rob was about five or six years ago, I was walking into the Aramco Midra Tower for something, and ran into him outside. I was surprised to see him, he looked good. He said he was in Saudi consulting for somebody. We were both in a hurry so we were not able to really catch up other than about a two minute conversation. We said we´d meet later for coffee, but something came up with me and was I not able to make it. I wish now I had.
My prayers go out to you Sharon, and his family during this tough time. Rest in peace Rob, you´ve earned it.
