Robert Golas Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dracut Funeral Home on Jan. 3, 2026.
Robert Patrick Golas, age 70, a resident of Ashby, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Cynthia T. Golas, who passed away in 2007.
He was born in Lowell on March 17, 1955, and was the son of the late Walter P. Golas and Geraldine L. (Sargent) Golas. Robert was raised by his mother, Geraldine, as a single parent and was later adopted by Walter Golas as a teenager. The family eventually moved to Dracut, where he met the mother of his children, Lila Smith, and later enlisted in the United States Air Force.
During his extensive and distinguished military career, Robert traveled the world and received numerous commendations in recognition of his service. Following his honorable discharge, he remained deeply committed to serving fellow veterans through his involvement with the American Legion and AMVETS, ultimately achieving Commander status in these organizations. He also continued his professional service as a Safety Officer and Fire Chief at New Boston Air Force Station.
Above all, Robert was a devoted father and grandfather. He raised two extraordinary sons, instilling in them strong values, life skills, and a deep sense of love and integrity. He was also the proud grandfather of four grandsons, whom he adored.
An avid outdoorsman, Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, ATV riding, and especially snowmobiling. What began as a hobby became a winter lifestyle centered around family, friendship, and fun.
Robert is survived by his mother Geraldine Golas of Lowell, partner of 13 years, Jean Kelloway, and her children, Theresa and George; his sons, Aaron Golas of Londonderry, New Hampshire, and his partner, Jill Carmody, and SPC Trevor Golas of Deltona, Florida, and his partner, Leanna Caldwell; his grandchildren, Preston, Brayden, Keaton, and Brodie; his brother, Gary Golas, and his wife, Delores; his niece, Christine Golas; his nephew, Christopher Golas; along with many cousins and friends.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Dracut Funeral Home, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 95 Lakeview Avenue, Tyngsboro, followed immediately by a Celebration of Life at the Tyngsboro American Legion. Interment will be held at a later date.

Very sorry to hear the passing of "Bobby". My mom and Geri were good friends. I miss Geri so much. We talked a few years ago and she remembered me. Prayers to the families.

To Bob's Mother and family and Jean,
So sorry for your loss. I worked across the hall from Bob's office at the New Boston Air Force Station for many years. He loved his mother, family and Jean which I met a few times. He would also talk about his love of the outdoors especially snowmobiling and his houses up in Maine. I would often think how him and Jean put up with the cold. I'm sure he will be missed and I'm thinking of you all at this time. Hugs
