Robert Gary "Bob" Goodman, born on June 27, 1940, in Curwensville, PA, and a longtime resident of Alexandria, PA, passed away on November 20, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John S. "Jack" and Ruth (McFadden) Goodman; his brother, Richard S. Goodman; his sister, Sandra L. "Sandy" Wilkinson; and his daughter, Wendy S. Goodman.
Bob worked most of his life in the food industry as a meat specialist. Bob retired as Vice President and Director of Perishables from Reeves Parvin, Huntingdon, PA. After retirement, Bob brought his expertise to Imler's Poultry, Altoona, PA, where he helped develop their beef and poultry program.
As a community servant, Bob was very active in his church, First Church of Christ, Altoona, PA. He had served as President of the local Jaycees, President of the local Lions Club, and President of the Alexandria Memorial Library. He was deeply involved in the Boys Scouts of America and was honored with the Silver Beaver Award recognizing adult leaders who have made exceptional and distinguished contributions to youth within a local council.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Janice A. Goodman (Burris); his sons, Robert S. "Steve" Goodman (life partner, Cindy), Michael R. Goodman, and Timothy J. Lloyd (Kelly); and his grandchildren, Michael, Jessica, Travis, Kassi, Kayla, Joshua, Kristy, and Taylor. He is also survived by his sister, Carole L. Michaels, and his brother-in-law, Richard Wilkinson. Bob deeply loved and adored his 14 great-grandchildren, along with his many nieces and nephews.
Bob will be remembered for his warm heart, and the genuine care and love he extended to family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know him. His life was marked by compassion, generosity, and a deep appreciation for meaningful connections and simple moments.
A memorial service will be held on December 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Church of Christ in Altoona, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages acts of kindness or donations to the First Church of Christ in Bob's memory.
