Robert Graichen Obituary

Graichen, Robert N. 1/10/1931 - 7/15/2022 Ypsilanti, Michigan Robert N. Graichen, age 91, of Superior Township, Michigan, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2022. He was born on January 10, 1931 in Ypsilanti, Michigan, the youngest child to Cecil and Hazel (Knaggs) Graichen. Robert graduated from Ypsilanti High School, married Opal Mae Pheiffer on July 11, 1955, and served in the United States Army in Korea. Robert enjoyed working the land, growing a rotation of corn, soybeans and wheat. When he wasn't tending to the farm, he enjoyed buying, restoring, and collecting antique John Deere tractors. His collection of antique tractors brought him a lot of joy over the years. He was preceded in death by his wife Opal Graichen; parents, Cecil and Hazel Graichen; and his siblings, Ralph Graichen and Marian Latvala. Robert will be greatly missed by his nephews, Jan (Anne) Latvala, Kim Latvala, and Randolph (Sandy) Graichen. He also leaves behind many great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. Private cremation services have been arranged. An interment of his cremated remains will be held at a later date at Oak Grove Cemetery of Dixboro, Michigan.

I first met Robert back in the 1970s at Gross Farm Equipment. When ever he came to get parts, he and his wife would come back into the shop and visit. They both were great people.
