Robert "Bob" Francis Gray, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026, at Auburn Fields Assisted Living at the age of 85.
Bob was born on November 11, 1940, in Bay City, Michigan, the son of John Gray and Elizabeth (Toohey) Gray. He graduated from Bay City Central High School in 1958. He went right from school to helping his father and brothers farm the field. Shortly into his farming career, he joined the United States Army in 1963, serving for roughly 10 months until returning back home to help on the farm. Upon returning home, he married the love of his life, Carolyn 'Carrie' Ann Moore on July 24, 1965. They spent 55 years together until her passing in 2020. Bob made his lifelong career as a farmer, throwing in the towel just a few years ago in 2019, when his sons, Larry and David took over the land.
Not only was Bob an avid farmer, but he also worked at Saginaw General Motors, Grey Iron Works for many years, and retired in the late 90's. He enjoyed the outdoors, tending to his vegetable garden, deer hunting, and had a special adoration for cows. You could always catch him watching a sports game on the TV, especially the Detroit Tigers. He was a Great Lakes Loons fan, and instilled that love in his children and grandchildren. Bob was not affectionate much, but always showed the true definition of family. He was fiercely loyal to those close to him, and cared deeply for his children and grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his three children, Lawrence (Christine) Gray, David Gray, and Sheri (Steven) Harmon; grandchildren, Lauren (Andrew), Kathryn (Joseph), Shelby, Zane, Josephine, Nicholas, Ryan, Christopher, Alisia and Nathan; great-grandchildren, Victoria and Evelyn; sister, Nancy Richards; siblings-in-law, Aaron Brookhouse, Jack Divo, Dennis Cull, and June Gray. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Gray; siblings, Carol Divo, Jeanne Brookhouse, Noel Eichorn, Jack Gray, and Don Gray; siblings-in-law, Richard Richards, and Joseph Moore.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 11AM, with visitation one hour before the service at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, 3516 E Monroe Rd, Midland, MI 48642. The family will receive friends and family on Friday, March 6, 2026 from 2PM until 7PM at Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler Rd., Midland, MI 48640. Memorial donations can be made in honor of Bob to All Valley Home Health and Hospice, or the American Heart Association.
