Robert James Greenwood, Sr.
Robert James Greenwood, Sr., known to family and friends as Bob, Dad, and Poppi, was born on January 21, 1949, and passed from complications from cancer and Covid on January, 9, 2023 surrounded by his closest family. One of three children, Bob was the only son of Luther Burt Greenwood and Ida Mae Pearson with two sisters Jeanne Marie Greenwood of
St. Louis, Missouri, predeceased in 2003, and Mary Ellen Greenwood Coerver (spouse Don), of
Spokane, Washington. Bob was the faithful and loving spouse of Peggy Thomson Greenwood for forty-eight years.
Bob was a quiet man who expressed creativity, deep intelligence and profound love through the work he did with his hands. A computer hardware expert, an automobile mechanic, a plumber, a repairman, a carpenter-all were recognized talents. But above all, the talent for which he was greatly admired was woodworker. The breadth and depth of his projects were truly impressive. Furniture, toys, candlesticks, a rocking chair, a cradle, sculpted boxes, shelves, a toybox, picnic tables and so many other items created for the people he loved and always made with his signature mark of perfection.
Three children called Bob, Dad: Robert Greenwood, Jr. (spouse Farrah) of
Creve Coeur, MO; Melanie Greenwood (spouse Bill Luedke) of
Auburndale, Florida; and Valerie Greenwood Burks, (spouse William), of
High Ridge, Missouri. Bob's life was blessed with seven grandchildren: Alex, Tim, Isabella, Emily, Nikolas, Lilly and Liam.
